A New Job!

Yes, I have finally landed a great job! After being unemployed since July 3rd (and just 2 weeks after my severance ended) I have somewhat "unofficially" accepted a job with Dendreon (www.dendreon.com). They said they just have to check my references & I'll get the "official" offer on Monday!

Dendreon will be applying for FDA approval of a cancer treatment for prostate cancer in November. They anticipate the full commercial launch to be mid 2010. My position is a Marketing Manager for that treatment called Provenge.

Their platform is very interesting & is all cancer related. They are looking into treatments for other types of cancer at this time as well including lung, breast, and colon cancers. They are not "drug" or pharmaceutical related treatments, but rather biotech treatments using the patients own immune system. Very interesting stuff & a great opportunity for me as I get to start with them just as they are garnering their entire marketing team!

Foster Dog: Pepper

This is our latest foster dog from the Seattle Humane Society, Pepper. He's a 7 year old shepherd mix that has lost a bunch of fur due to malnutrition...so sad. He's a really sweet dog & gets along with Titan & Fletcher well. Tom & I however did not sleep terribly well last night - there was a LOT of whining, barking, and noise. He'll be with us for the next 2 weeks while we attempt to help him grow some of his fur back so he can then be put up for adoption.

Cool Photos

An Update :)

Since I hadn't updated you all lately, I figured I'd keep the blog alive. Not much new here in Seattle. We had a fabulous spring & summer, but it seems that October has decided that the warm temps & sun were overstaying their welcome in the Emerald city. So, we've seen much cooler temps (ranging in the 50's & 60's during the day) and the rain & clouds have made their return (probably until April). We have had some sun mixed in, but the trees are now turning as are our bushes out front (which turn fire engine red). I love fall. We get stunning color here and I'm a huge fan of Halloween (don't ask why - I'm really not sure). I love to decorate & would go a bit overboard on the decorations if I didn't think it would make Tom cringe in horror!

My job search continues (though it is mostly a frustrating battle). I will apply for unemployment this week for the first time. I'm not proud of that status. I have had 3 interviews with the company Dendreon (DNDN - stock symbol) since early August. This process has taken FOREVER as I applied for the job (which is a Marketing Manager) back in JULY! They tell me I should hear something by next Friday (October 10th). Keep your fingers crossed for me. I'm afraid I may die of boredom otherwise...

The dogs have never been in better shape. I take them for 6.4 mile long walks about 5 times a week. It is our joint exercise. I'm giving them today off. Two days ago we were caught in a torrential downpour. The skies opened up on us & we were soaked & cold (or at least I was) by the time we got home.

We had some new blinds installed (see photo). They are the type that let some light in. This picture is standing in our entry way. We were afraid of the direct sunlight fading out some of our artwork. They are on a remote!

Well - I guess that is all from land of Malchow. I'm hopeful that we'll have GOOD NEWS to share next week from my job hunting...
