Evergreen Hospital allows a photography company to come in and photograph new babies. I'm sure it is the biggest money leeching scam out of new parents, but I'll be a sucker & buy some...they are just too cute & when will I ever have another photo of her at just 48 hours old?

Enjoy everyone! They brought tears to my eyes...ah, the joys of being post partum & the raging hormones. At least they were tears of joy.

Day 1

Shannon has been a very good baby thus far. Here's a few more pictures of our little bundle of joy.

She was born via c-section at 3:09pm. Shannon weighed 7lbs 8oz, was 21.25" long. She is healthy, happy, and beautiful (no bias there, right?).

Underway

The pitocin drip was started at 6:15am this morning, so we're not quite 2 hours into this. So far so good, I'm not feeling too bad & the contractions are pretty easy to deal with. They say once I'm dilated to 3-4cm that the "average" time is about 12 hours until the baby comes (aka - prepare for a long evening).

Eviction notice to baby Malchow

This morning marks the eviction notice for baby Malchow. Tom & I will head into the hospital to initiate the first step before the induction formally begins on Monday.

A balloon that is filled with sterile water is inserted into the cervix to force it open (sounds lovely right?). This process helps to "ripen" the cervix to respond better to the Pitocin drip that will be used Monday for the induction. According to my doctor I should walk into the induction at 3-4cm dilated already. Right now I'm only about 1.5cm dilated.

Today isn't expected to be a fun day, as cramping is expected. But the end result of this process will certainly be worth it!
