Nursery - it's done...well almost.

The crown molding is up, the shelf is built, the polka dots are painted! We're only waiting on the chair to arrive from Pottery Barn, and then we need some cute nick knacks for the shelf that Brent hand-built. We also need to find some cute wall art, but other than that we are done!

Love in 3 dimensions

You gotta love the 3D ultrasound...yesterday Tom & went to a boutique to have a 3D ultrasound done. They also call them "4D" as they do a motion video of the baby (which is really neat to watch in real time). So we have a DVD of her moving & a CD full of 50 pictures like the ones you see here.

Stephanie & Brent are at Home Depot as I write this gathering supplies for crown molding, and shelving. They'll have a busy couple of days working away in the nursery. They did get the chandelier up last night (+ a dimmer switch). I love the idea that they had to put up a chandelier, for some reason it just complements the room so well!

Nursery Updates

So the furniture keeps rolling in...we've only got the chair left to go in the room! The crib came yesterday & looks great!

We're looking forward to seeing the room painted officially by the Killingsworth's in the upcoming weeks!

Speed Bump in an otherwise smooth Ride

We had a bit of a hiccup last night (Sunday January 3, 2010) as far as the pregnancy goes. At around 6:30pm I started to notice rythmic tightening of my abdomen (uterus), so I started keeping track. After 30 minutes of fairly regular contractions between 2 and 7 minutes we decided it was time to call the doctor.

They told me to come into the hospital. Sure enough I was having contractions which needless to say is a little scary & worrisome at this point in the pregnancy. They gave me an injection in the arm of a smooth muscle relaxer, which seemed to help nearly instantly. After nearly 3 hours in the hospital and careful monitoring of both my contractions & the baby we were discharged.

The reason? Well, they aren't really certain, but a likely culprit may have been my activity level combined with lack of water/fluids on Sunday. I did my 6.5 mile walk with the dogs (which I felt fine on), but hadn't consumed much in terms of liquids. They suspect the combination lead to the events, but even after consuming a lot of water last night & today I am still experiencing some of the same tightening (contractions) that I had last night. They aren't nearly as close together as they were last night.

The good news is that my cervix was closed tightly (a very good sign that labor is not likely to occur anytime soon). They also did a protein test that came back negative (meaning the likelihood of labor in the next 2 weeks is very minimal). Still, the contractions are of concern & I've been told to take it easy. I am at work, but since I have a desk job my doctor didn't think it was anything to be concerned about.

Nursery Preperations are under way!

After enjoying company in the house for Christmas and New Years, it was time to clear the large guestroom of all of the furniture. With the help of a friend, the furniture was moved downstairs & put on Craigslist. Within 24 hours we had ridded ourselves of an armoire, a TV, 2 area rugs, a Queen bed mattress set, a bed frame + head/footboard. We still have a dresser, but hope that will be gone today!

The nursery is now ready for its transformation! We started by purchasing all of the furniture yesterday at Pottery Barn Kids. It should all arrive in time for the baby shower (hopefully) in February...which will allow our superstar nursery decorators Stephanie & Brent to help with arranging everything!

I started to prep the "polka dot wall" by printing out paper sized circles to figure out their placement when they are painted on the wall.

I think it is going to look great! We also got our darling chandelier just before New Year's for the nursery which is going to look very cute too! We'll try to keep a photo journal of the room as it moves from being totally empty to complete with a tiny baby Malchow girl!
